* Sony disables USB devices over PS3 jailbreak

Printer-friendly page Print this story   Email this to a friend
Sony's new 3.50 firmware update is something to avoid, even if you're not using a PSJailbreak or PSGroove device. Why is that? Well, it turns out that in order to try to kill PSJailbreak/PSGroove's hack, Sony has gone the Microsoft route and in this firmware disabled every USB device that isn't specifically Sony-licensed. Memory cards, controllers, you name it. Over on Sony's forums, users are trying to track down all the makes and models that need authorization.

If you're using something third-party, especially a PS2-to-PS3 adapter (useful for Dance Dance Revolution fans with high-end pads) or an X-Arcade joystick, steer clear until they resolve this.
