* Torrentspy shuts out USA

Personal Stuff/Random News
Slashdot notices that TorrentSpy have blocked searching from US IP-addresses: they redirect instead to a "sorry" page.

Sorry, but because you are located in the USA you cannot use the search features of the Torrentspy.com website.Torrentspy's decision to stop accepting US visitors was NOT compelled by any Court but rather an uncertain legal climate in the US regarding user privacy and an apparent tension between US and European Union privacy laws.
This appears to be related to a US federal judge ordering them to spy on their users on behalf of the MafiAA:
?It is likely that TorrentSpy would turn off access to the U.S. before tracking its users,? said Rothken. ?If this order were allowed to stand, it would mean that Web sites can be required by discovery judges to track what their users do even if their privacy policy says otherwise.?
