Personal Stuff/Random News
An interesting do-it-yourself guide to making a real, working, powerful laser from a maglite and DVD burner.

This project isn't for the faint of heart: it involves pretty specialized components and soldering, but that'll all be worth it when you're camping with your pals and you start the fire by pointing your homemade handheld laser at the tinder.
Warning: this IS a dangerous item - like they said, it can cause fires, and it WILL cause vision damage if it gets in someone's eye.
