The Expendable benchmark is an excellent test in stressing the limits and capabilities of the Direct3D performance of a videocard. The tests probably show the most accurate performance hit when moving from 16-Bit color to 32-Bit color. The tests were run with sound disabled, triple buffer enabled, and all other options disabled.

These numbers really are something to take a look at. The clockspeed differences make virtually no contest and difference between the two speeds. The speeds hold up neck and neck with a modest 1FPS difference at maximum on any of the benchmarks. Switching from 16-Bit to 32-Bit color is rather odd, in that the speed is boosted, with a gradual 1FPS or so increase from the 16-Bit counterpart. The speed increase might be attributed to the large bandwidth the videocard can handle from the large dual 128-Bit data bus, allowing large consistent data transfers between memory and the processor. Unfortunately, at 1280x960x32-Bit, the card fails to load the game up, most likely due to not enough system memory.

In terms of performance, the high 20's range on the Expendable tests are respectable on a C450 w/64mb Ram. The frame rates decrease slightly as the resolution increases, but at 1280x960, the speed tends to die off as in the previous tests. From this test, it shows that Expendable really shows that clockspeed really doesn't make a difference on some benchmarks.
