Reviewed: Hercules 3D Prophet 4500

Installing the Prophet 4500 was no different than most cards; stick it in, let it detect as a standard VGA, and then install the drivers. Immediately upgrade to the newest downloaded drivers, as the shipping drivers have some rather annoying quirks. The main problems I found had to do with game performance; Deus Ex, while fine in the newest drivers, had a real problem with the shipping drivers. While concerns about driver immaturity plagued the card early on, the newest driver set have fixed almost all the problems, setting the card up to run just about anything smoothly.

Bundle? Sorry, you're out of luck there -- while bundling sets with gamepads and other items can be had, the board itself comes with nothing other than the drivers and manuals. The other flavor of the 4500, with a TV-Out feature, includes PowerDVD 3.0 for DVD playback, and to take advantage of the card's DVD hardware decoding support.
