Final Breakdown

With a ton of gaming options from racing, pipe, to air, there really are a lot of different ways to play and enjoy the game. Add in a ton of different tricks and styles to approach each individual game, the choices are endless. That is until you play all the levels and beat the game... there isn't much beyond that, but the pipe and air competitions are a lot of fun to play.

Almost perfect looking graphics with the exception of horrible clipping problems with the snow and the player being "covered up" while racing. The models are excellent and all the other environmental effects are superb. There are also a lot of options to improve the graphics. Another slight problem is the very high system requirements to keep the game looking good and running well at the same time.

Sound and Music:

Very impressive music from various unknown bands fill the air with head pumping tunes that should get the blood flowing and ready to get some snowboard trickin' going. The downside to the game music is that the tracks repeat in an endless loop. The sound effects are average and don't really have any zap to separate them from the rest of the blend of average sound effects.

Once it gets working, the game can be a complete blast to play, but with the lack of any dominant multiplayer features, the game simply withers away in the multiplayer department because of poor connection speeds, high lag, and lack of connection methods.

AI and Difficulty:

Not impressive for a racing game, the AI proves mediocre with its seemingly unaffected racers and methods that they approach the races. The AI is also extremely unforgiving not allowing players any chance if they screw up. Then there is also the lack of difficulty options, giving first time players a very difficult transition into the game.

Controls and Interface:

Everything is almost perfectly laid out and set for the player to get into the game. Controls with a gamepad are excellent and easy to control. The interface is very powerful, yet very simple to use at the same time. The only problems are the lack of ability to configure the controller buttons and the spin power slider when going off a jump is only controllable when actually turning a certain direction.

Possibly the best snowboarding game on the PC, which might not be saying very much due to its lack of competition, but not without its share of flaws. However, there is a lot to enjoy here with a lot of variety and games to play from the racing, air, to pipe competitions. Toss in some great looking graphics, and there is a solid foundation for a sequel to be developed.
