So what exactly makes using the black LAP better than a normal cloth pad with the IntelliEye mice? I can tell you that in two words, "more frags". I tried the pad out along with Microsoft's IntelliMouse Explorer, the better of the two IntelliEye models, with Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, and Tribes. I also tried the mouse on the plain desktop surface, my old cloth pad, and just for kicks, my pant leg. With my old Logitech wheel mouse, I had the sensitivity in UT turned to 6.00, but for some reason the IntelliMouse moved really slow at that sensitivity (on any of the surfaces), so I cranked it up to 10.00 and everything was fine. The desktop, pant leg, and cloth pad acted pretty much the same with the IntelliMouse--I could hardly tell a difference. When switching to the Everglide, just as I had noticed with a traditional mouse, there was an instant difference. There's a definate increase in sensitivity, as well as accuracy with the Everglide pad, making it much easier to nail those enemies while doing a 180 while falling right between the eyes. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself. My score greatly increased in all three games, seriously.

My main complaint with the LAP pad, is it's small height. The Explorer mouse is anything but small, and I often found myself running out of pad when flicking the mouse upward/downward, occasionally ending up in a frag... me being the fragee. :) But if you can learn to control your movement, you'll do yourself well by putting an Everglide LAP under that new mouse of yours.
