Reviewed: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
Producer: Activision
Required System: Xbox360, PS3
Overall Rating:
Author: Michael Ahlf
Date: December 17th, 2009

Activision's line of Marvel fighting/RPG titles goes back a long way - at one point it was an X-Men "only" franchise, then it slowly opened up with Marvel Ultimate Alliance. The idea of a "universe-spanning" fighting/rpg title certainly gives players a lot of options, and Activision's promise for UA2 was that it would give players an even better experience than the first.

Alas, at best the game is only as good as the predecessor. Expanded options and gameplay, and an expanded roster, give way to a focus on some rather unfortunate storyline and level design choices. The end result? A game that even the fanboys may have trouble with, and that isn't good at holding attention over time.
