Final Breakdown

Classic Mario gameplay with elements from Super Mario World and Mario 64 makes for an enjoyable title.

Even spread across two screens, this one doesn't let up. The 3-D style with 2-D worlds is entertaining, while not distracting.

Sound and Music:

The sounds are standard Mario stock, but who's complaining?

In many respects this is a good way to introduce new players to the series; the early levels are easy enough for a new player, and the game's difficulty ramps up slowly but surely until the final levels are enough to challenge veteran gamers.

Controls and Interface:

Nintendo's designers have rarely messed up a control scheme, and this one's no exception.

A great way to introduce new players to the Mario series and perhaps the third best (behind Super Mario World and Mario 64, and even with Super Mario Bros. 3) overall. Definitely one of the reasons to own a DS.
