Final Breakdown

The weapon system and familiar system are brilliant, but

Pain from the PS2's aging hardware bleeds over into the Xbox version, which is just a port. Sad, really, as the Xbox could have done a lot for this game.

Sound and Music:

Castlevania's never had bad music, and despite most tracks being remixes from previous games, they're good remixes that are fun to listen to. The voice acting is even well done in the American version, which is a rarity in the gaming world.

If you're looking for a Castlevania to challenge you, this isn't it.

Controls and Interface:

The fighting system is okay, but jumping is nigh worthless, and the steal system is great until certain enemies with horrendously bad timing in their animations.

Leave it on the shelf, please. You're better off breaking out your copy of Symphony of the Night, or even Lament of Innocence.
