Picking up a value title can sometimes be a dicey prospect; if a company's not willing to sell a game, sometimes it's an indication that the game's not quality. Thankfully, there are exceptions - and Heretic Kingdoms (sold in Europe by the name "Kult") is one of those exceptions.

In terms of graphics, players looking for the utmost latest-and-greatest should look elsewhere. Heretic Kingdoms is a budget title, and at times it shows. It also shows the enormous possibilities still left open to designers who don't have legions of graphic artists on staff, as Heretic Kingdoms manages to take the basic Diablo-style gameplay and camera systems and add in enough diverse roleplaying and quest elements to make for an engaging and enjoyable title.
