Last summer, gamers were given an immense
treat - Spider-Man 2, the video game, on all three noteworthy consoles.
While they had some graphical differences, the engine was the same in each,
and the gameplay was rock-solid. Storyline, for many gamers, took a small
back seat to the fun of roaming Manhattan via spiderweb, beating up petty
thugs and generally exploring the scenery.
This year, PSP gamers were given
something quite different; a steaming turd calling itself Spider-Man 2 for
the PSP. Gone is the roaming gameplay, gone is the web-slinging ability that
made traveling in the game fun. In its place is the old engine from earlier
Spider-Man titles, where "webslinging" meant "hold R to go forward." This is
a Spider-Man title that could easily have come out as a Playstation original
such as
Spider-Man 2 Enter: Electro years ago, but with the movie's storyline
grafted on. |
