Reviewed: Outrageous 3D Graphics GeForce 2 GTS
Manufacturer: Absolute Multimedia
Product Type: Graphics Card
Price: $275
Overall Rating:
Author: Torsten Daeges  Date: August 2nd 2000

Installation was absolutely no problem. There's even a video for those who don't know how to install the AGP-board. Absolute Multimedias driver-set is almost identical with nVidias reference-drivers, so getting updated drivers will never be a problem.

With its GeForce 2 GTS-chip, the Outrageous 3D GeForce 2 GTS is naturally one of the fastest consumer video-cards of today. Since almost all the GeForce 2 GTS-based graphics-boards use nVidias reference-board design, they're pretty much the same performance-wise. However, the Outrageous 3D GeForce 2 GTS is highly overclockable because of its nice cooling features, which gives it a plus over the other boards.

While I still think that the GeForce-based-boards are mighty expensive for videoboards, the Outrageous 3D GeForce 2 GTS' price is way below that of others. 275$ is, in relation to the other offerings, a very attractive price, especially when you think about the special pluses of this particular board.

  • FSAA slows down things a lot on GeForces and doesn't look as good as 3dfxs implementation, however that is not really a minus of this particular board but of all GeForce-based boards.
  • "ICE-BOX"-cooler
  • Large memory heatsinks
  • less expensive than other offerings
  • "CoolBits"-registry-tweaks installed by default
  • based on nVidias GeForce 2 GTS: T&L, etc.
