Final Breakdown

Gameplay:

Arx Fatalis' gameplay is well done; the quests are complex and fun, and the game lacks much of the tedium aspect that surrounds similar titles like King's Field.

Graphics:

It doesn't push the envelope, being a port of a slightly older PC title, but the graphics are serviceable.

Sound and music:

The sound system is well done, and voices well acted; the music is background, and doesn't do much for it one way or the other.

AI and Difficulty:

The AI can be tricked, but that doesn't make most combats any easier. The fact that the game's got a soft "cap" on leveling (you CAN just run out of things to kill) helps the boss fights stay difficult.

Controls and Interface:

The controls mapped very well to the Xbox, almost entirely better than the PC; the only nuisance is the quick timer on entering magic runes.

Overall:

It's an RPG worth playing, though the replay value isn't that high. Once you've finished it, you've finished it.
