Reviewed: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2
Author: Michael Ahlf       Date: June 12th, 2004

Final Breakdown

Hack, slash, and more hack & slash - but it's well-done hack & slash.

The graphics and effects aren't much improved from the original Dark Alliance, leaving it feeling slightly dated today.

Sound and music:

The sounds and music, faithfully translated again from the last, have held up better than the graphical system.

AI and Difficulty:

The AI's only as smart as the monster put in - but the game does a good job balancing the short learning curve, with keeping things interesting.

Controls and Interface:

While D&D Heroes did it slightly better with the Feats system, the interface is still entirely solid.

Trying to get into RPG's? This is a good start. Liked Dungeon Siege, D&D Heroes, or the rest of the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale line? It's a worthy successor.
