Final Breakdown

Gameplay:

Sam doesn't really add anything to FPS games, but the formula is faithfully applied and just about perfect for old-school gaming.

Graphics:

The Xbox's capabilities work quite well, and Sam crosses from PC to console with almost no loss.

Sound and music:

Sound in Serious Sam harkens back to the days of Doom again; basic sound effects without being overdone, and a side order of audio intended to enhance the character the way Duke Nukem's quips did.

Multiplayer:

The one downside; Sam's multiplayer doesn't go well in a four-quadrant screen, and the action simply moves too fast for a console pad to properly deal with.

AI and Difficulty:

Lots of ammo, and an expectation to use almost all of it.

Controls and Interface:

The updated HUD works very well, and the Xbox controller can handle almost any single-player FPS with no trouble.

Overall:

Looking for Sam's multiplayer? Grab the PC version. If you'd rather enjoy the story the Xbox port is a great choice.
