Robotech is one of the bigger-name anime titles, having had a run in America back when most gamers were kids, and even carrying one well-remembered crossover character with the Transformers series. It also had a high-profile side series, Macross, that has held memory a bit longer. That being said, it was something of a surprise to see it get its own video game, given that the genre is currently ruled by other series, and Cartoon Network is doing their best to promote G Gundam above all else.

The fear factor was, of course, the usual trend with video games made from a TV series -- that they get rushed through production, and wind up with serious gameplay issues. Thankfully, this isn't the case, and Robotech: Battlecry stands above other Big Robo titles as thoroughly enjoyable.
