 Nethergate Review @ GU - Page 4

Graphics: 3/10
Not too good, the graphics are just screens with little sprites that aren't animated, but the environments do like nice. The surroundings are quaint and work to fit the time period.

Controls/Interface: 14/15

Excellent controls and interface. Only complaint I have though is that you can't customize any of the buttons to suit your tastes or any form of configurations. The load times are excellent and the does not require a huge super computer.

Sound: 3/10

Pretty empty, and the sound effects that do fill the room are pretty simple and nothing special.

AI: 14/15

The battle engine is very good and fun and the bad guys that fill the combat screens are very smart.

Gameplay: 19/20

Very fun and challenging from start to finish. The length is very good as well because there are two full adventures for you to fullfill and both require different strategy. Only thing that I didn't like was that too much emphasis on the game is battles and some of them are quite difficult.

Storyline: 20/20

Excellent storyline of the two different groups, also having two adventures for each point of view. The depth is extremely deep as the story gets uncovered more and more as you get further into the game.

Originality: 8/10

Quite an original game (and gutsy at that) using true historical research and a real story to back it up. A few elements have been seen in other games are also here, but for the most part it's all new to you.

Overall: 81%

A good game that anyone should get if they can get past the graphics and sound issue. Has a great depth to it and will keep you occupied for a long time. Lots of game for little price.
